Salaah (Prayers)

Meanings of the prayers in Salaah

O Allah, bestow Your mercy on Muhammad and on the family of Muhammad as You have bestowed Your mercy on Ibrahim and on the family of Ibrahim, You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious. 15. Tasleem (Giving Salaam)

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings

SALAAH IS COMPLETE

Du'aas after Salaah

On completing the prayer, one should recite ASTAGHFIRULLAH thrice, then one should raise both hands to the level of the chest and make Du’a to ALLAH TA’ALA:

I seek forgiveness of Allah (Recite three times)

O Allah, You are Peace and from You comes peace. Blessed are You, O Owner of majesty and honor

O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You in the best manner.

Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing, and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful.

Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. And peace upon the messengers. And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, He has no partner, His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things. O Allah, there is none who can withhold what You give, and none may give what You have withheld, and the might of the mighty person cannot benefit him against You.

Aayatul Kursiyy

Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Magnificent.

Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Q & A

What is salaah or namaaz?

Salaah is a special type of prayer that has been taught by Allah through His Prophet (peace be upon him) to Allah’s servants.

What conditions are necessary for salaah ?

The prerequisites for salaah are seven. Without them salaah cannot be performed. These conditions are called fard or sharaa-it of salaah.

What are those seven conditions that must be observed before saying salaah?

They are:

What are the Faraaidh (Compulsary Acts) of Salaah?

There are six compulsory acts (Faraaidh) of Salaah

What are waajibaat (Necessary Acts) of Salaah?

WAAJIBAAT of Salaah are those items that are necessary to complete the Salaah. If one misses any of them unknowingly, it can be compensated by performing SAJDA SAHW (sajda done for mistakes made unknowingly).

There are fourteen WAAJIBAAT in Salaah.

If one does not perform SAJDA SAHW or if one misses a WAAJIB knowingly, it is necessary to perform that Salaah all over again.

What are the Sunnats of Salaah?

Those things that have been proven to be done in Salaah by the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم but not so much stress has been laid upon them as is laid upon things FARDH and WAAJIB are known as SUNNATS.

If any of these are missed unknowingly, neither does it invalidate the Salaah nor does Sajda Sahw become necessary.

There are 21 Sunnats in Salaah.

If these are left knowingly, the Salaah is valid and there is no need for Sajda Sahw. However, such a person is condemned.

What are the mustahabbaat (Recommended Acts) of Salaah?
There are 5 Mustahabbaat (Preferable/Recommended acts) in Salaah.

What are makruhaat of Salaah?

Makruhaat are those things that cause the full blessing of the Salaah to be lost although the Salaah will not have to be repeated.

Some Makrooh Acts in Salaah are:

What are the mufsidaat (Nullifying Actions) of Salaah?

Mufsidaat of Salaah are factors which nullify the Salaah and make it necessary to be repeated.

The following are some of the MUFSIDAAT:
